potty chat

7th Jan2012, Saturday

this was taken in the toilet!

recorded what gx was told by her little gal on FB
think my gal sure wants her violin! GX told me baby R shared with daddy while on the potty - Mummy will play the white piano and i play the silver violin. We play music for daddy... little gal's got vision and sure knows how to convince daddy to get the violin she wanted cos daddy's heart melted when she propose to play him a song!

my funny gal requested for her daddy and i was like quick get it done but she insisted so i called gx in... i walked away cos baby R told me to... so when i sneaked upon them, i took a shot of them chatting... only after the session then gx told me... our gal has this VISION!  sneaky one but sweet little determined gal, wanting to get a violin in her hands!

V for visiting and violin

after i brought baby R home, we fed her and drove mil down to work and head to sis' hm. the initial plan was to fetch baby R from school and drive mil down and show popo baby R in her school uniform... little nephew L is happy to see us! he was excited to have someone to play with him!

it was a nice afternoon meetup...
after leaving, we head to thomson to do alittle research on ballet and music classes.

at yamaha, baby R was so excited when she saw the glass cabinet displaying all kinds of violins, violas and she told daddy to get one for her the tiny one! glad i posted on FB cos then i can remember the special moments... on the 10th Jan, baby tried to convince daddy

Positive Activity

Reward Sticker Chart

15th Nov11. I started a project with baby R - this was something i had in mind all the time esp after giving birth, with baby R's behaviour changing and also the challenging Terrible Two tantrums, this was the positive plan to get baby R back on the track... with xmas a couple weeks away, with malls filled with activities and hitting stores - helps me to get stuffs to award our little gal when she earns enough stickers to receive a reward. I wanted to make the chart interesting and also a little art project and the hungry caterpillar Cousin T gave baby R sparked the 1st sticker chart idea!  i cut out round circles and got baby R to stick them on the chart... as this was done while baby A was napping, i didnt take any pics while we created but with the end product, baby R was really excited and yet shy away from the camera due to her wound... ever since the accident, she is conscious of taking pics... not as spontaneous as before...

at the start, baby R didnt know what the chart was all about when i tried explaining to her... she didnt have the patience to hear me out... GX told me to jus go along and she will get it. That was a better plan! Whenever baby R did something good, i praised her and awarded a sticker and she would excitedly paste it on the chart and when she filled up the spot before the RED circle, she get to be surprised with the reward! funny thing was she knew how the chart works, she was a better gal and offered to be good and helped me out with many chores esp collecting the laundry but i won't say she purposely did all the good things to earn her stickers... my gal has a heart of gold... its just with the stickers, i helped me to be able to reward her when she does something good and it makes me proud of her and she is happy for being recognised...

My gal said many sweet things to cheer me up and those were recorded in earlier posts. my little sweet heart also lend me her hands to massage my tired shoulders, she drummed my tired and painful shoulders and warmed my heart. Simple things like packing her toys she got rewarded with a sticker too cos she is terrible with packing! Also being able to pee and poo in the potty with no accidents about the house thru the day and learning her colours in mandrin, baby R gets a sticker too! Esp when she shows real concern to her little sis and when baby R said I love you Meimei, she defnitely filled her chart cos we wanted her  to know she was a good jiejie!

difficult late lunch

17th Sept11, Saturday. When we set off to collect my printed stuff for baby #2's full month party, it was raining and it poured really heavy by the time i came out from the printer! Gx and I had cousin L's bdae gift on our agenda and gx insist not gog to town... so we hit the nearest mall, Nex. I am not fond of coming to Nex... jus not my mall... I wanted to let baby R have ice-cream so we settled at New Zealander's icecream for late lunch. The fish and chips was nice but the chicken chop paled and was tasteless. Gx had coffee while i had free ice-tea that came with the set and we top $2 to get a scoop of icecream each.

baby R insisted in ordering on her own and when she ordered, she saw the food laid on the table, she expected her ice-cream to be served too! we explained to her she had to wait and try to eat some of the hot food 1st before they will serve the dessert... she was sleepy and cranky and was so stubborn she made noise, wiggled about and was unhappy she end up with tears cos she felt frsutrated.

She made lunch so hard to swallow as we tried to ignore her after speaking to her many times. We wanted to eat as fast so we can give her the ice-cream... but she was throwing tantrums till i had to stare and stop her with my stern prob alittle loud voice cos i was out of patience! daddy had to bring her to a corner outside the restuarant to speak to her! I told daddy to jus ask them to serve the ice-cream and when the ice-cream came... she actually asked daddy for potato wedge! she snack half a slice of potato wedge then started on her mango ice-cream...

when our scoop of Hokey Pokey ice-cream came, we offered her to try and she was reluctant... when baby R finally tried it, she wanted more and we took the chance to explain to her if she was insistant, stubborn and didnt try at all she would missed out this nice ice-cream... she nodded her head and asked for more... after leaving nex she napped in the car till we reach holland v to look for another set of gift for L's bdae.

black pepper attack

13th Septemeber11, Tuesday afternoon,i was starving! so i head out to the kitchen to cook a can of soup. My gal has this censor on her... i can't leave the room towards the middle or end of her naptime cos she will wake up and call for me... so esp if i know she is needs the nap, esp Tuesday cos she hardly take a wink on Monday when grandparents are home! So i will try not to leave the room... but i was too hungry when the clock strike 5pm and she was came looking for me in the kitchen.... she only managed to stop whining due to her insufficient rest when i told her i was cooking soup to share with her...

Soup wasnt enough for me... i heated up a couple of slices of luncheon meat and when i heard the bell, i head to the kitchen but somehow, i popped my head out of the kitchen to check on baby R who was suppose to be scooping her own bowl of soup to feed herself.... but she wasnt! She was holding onto the bottle of black pepper over my 1/4 bowl of soup... with the lid of the bottle open! i dashed across to her and found my white creamy soup turned black! she had poured out more than half the bottle of black pepper into the bowl!

All i can say is she is smart not to do it to her own soup cos she knows pepper = HOT SPICY LALA.... and she was lucky that i drank most of the soup and i had luncheon meat to fill up my tummy!

snipsnip

13th September11, Tuesday. Its time again for baby R to trim her "very long hair"! Well... i have gotten over with it that i will get reminders that its time to get baby R to cut her hair... it used to bother me when i was told to bring her to the hairdresser to get her hair ROUNDED... cos it usually ended up making baby R look like an orange with her short crop... worse, its the struggle she puts up, crying wiggling so hard that makes the haircut experience awful not jus for the gal but for me too cos i am always the one holding on to her... with the preganancy things changed... i tried to snip off her fringe while she was asleep and trim it neatly when she woke up and it worked! I had a second attempt back some months ago and that was to cut her hair all around and with daddy support holding onto her, patiently telling her to sit still, i managed my 1st hair cut and i was praised by aunt K that i did a neat job! Aunt K used to cut the my cousin, sis and my hair when we were young!

With PILs, daddy and of cos , me urging her to have her hair trimmed over 2 weeks cos esp her fringe was getting in the way... when she was at the potty with mil after she woke up... i jus ask casually as usual... and expecting a NO for an answer... Darling, do you want mummy to cut your hair? baby R answered OKie!

Immediately i got my pair of scissors and went searching for her comb frantically! Action has to FAST! i dashed to the toilet and mil checked if i needed comb and she was prob impressed how fast i got my stuff! i told her must strike while the iron is HOT! baby R sat with her jus-woke-up blur face on the big potty and quietly steady, i started working on her hair...

Started with the fringe... had the scissors a little high so in the end she ended up with pretty much a shorter fringe it did prob looked funnier or alittle too stylo with her long hair... but daddy loves it saying it gives baby R a fresher look and said baby R's hair grow pretty fast... then i managed to cut the side and moved on to the back that was when she struggled to sit still then it wasnt that neat as there were a few strands that were slightly longer.... but i managed to keep it looking quite neat and the other side the same length as the 1st side i cut!

after the haircut, i showered with baby R and she was feeling happy! i was happy too! She was chirpy when showed her new hairdo... and daddy loves it when he came home from work, he told her she look so cute and pretty, baby R grinned... well... as long as the haircut wasnt a struggle, a battle, a nag at me but at her, drumming baby R instead of me... i dun mind baby R with short hair as long as she dun look like an orange, she do look fresh and as long as there is not special occasion to attend after the haircut... cos ever we had her hair cut and there was nothing i could do with her super short crop and it didnt help when she was much younger she already didnt had much hair...

so over the year, i guess the lesson learnt is to give way to each other. baby R and i won't be nagged about the hair issue till the Big occasion is over and  for me when the big occasion is over, i will try to trim her hair, nagging my gal on my own to support the "its time to cut hair project"!

SHOUT down

31st August11, Wednesday. Pretty much a good day at home. The best thing that we did for the 1st time was laundry - handwashing clothings together! While baby R soaks the clothings in the bubble basin, i rinse the tops with water... it made my tidious, hateful job seems more fun and i felt that we finished so fast!

Today for the 1st time, my mil actually told me that we should cook macaroni alphabets for baby R! GX had prob shared how difficult it was to feed baby R porridge for dinner, last week almost every other night, baby R skipped nap and slept thru dinner and only asked for milk... if she was awake enough, she refused porridge and GX had a tough nite trying to convince baby R to eat it... then this week mil had a go on Sunday and Monday nite to try to feed her porridge... she faced the same problem... but i told mil that for lunch we stil give porridge then only make the macaroni for nite.

Not sure if i will get it when i walked out of the room... cos i didnt cook macaroni last nite. Neither did i starve baby R... Gx was going to be late, stuck in meeting, so i had to get my own dinner... i got fried rice with sunny side-up egg and 2 chicken wings for dinner. Baby R wanted my rice and she had 2 bowls of rice with bits of egg and shredded chicken! so there wasnt anymore room for her to eat her macaroni! fingers X and hope the day start smoothly...

when i was about to change baby R into PJ, sil and bf came home and she dashed out of the room... i am particularly strict about bedtime on eve of class... called baby R several times and she didnt answer and unlike my family if they hear me calling baby R, they would send he message to her and ask baby R to go look for mummy... i was totally ignored... they were all too busy playing iphone games and sniggering... i went to the room and baby R hid under the blankey.... then she pops her head, see me and tell me BYEBYE MIMI....

boiled my blood and i demanded her to be back in the room now... when sil and bf sent her over, she rolled onto the floor and threw tantrum. I asked them to please leave the room and i started screaming at my gal! I told her what she did wrong of ignoring me calling her and not answering at all and i told her there is time for everything and i gave her enough time to mingle for awhile and whats important is she needs to sleep cos there is class tomolo... she cried and nodded her head and said sorry in her saddest tone and hugged me... i was too pissed to stop telling baby R off... i was frustrated how things are at home... mummy's call isnt important? i am sure sil didnt mean it but this happens alot more when pils are home...

my gal hugged me and sobbed and said sorry a few times to pacify me... i teared... i told her it would have been a good day if she had listen and answered me... spoke to daddy on the phone and baby R teared... she lie down to have her milk while i stroke her head and when she was done with milk, i gave her a massage to make her happier... didnt want her to go to sleep with negative feeling. she loves it when i blow on her tummy pretending she is a balloon. Baby R would say No mummy Stop but she would turn back and lift up her top so i can attack her before she turns away!

i wished i didnt need to have a shout down but i couldnt control myself... i was mad really MAD.

Did i ever want to be such a mum - NO... but somehow things didnt turn out as i thought it would be no use planning cos everything in the surrounding is a factor and nothing can be done to control the situation and make it happen the way i wanted it to be... i just hope baby R stays with me... i told her only when she listens to me, things would stay nice cos its frustrating that my gal doesnt listen and that makes me frustrated cos thing gets stuck. so much so for the last nite of August 2011

voting day playground fun

27th August11, Saturday. Presidential Election Day. Its the 2nd time this year we as citizens of Singapore has to cast our votes to decide who's going to run our little nation... with my big baby belly, i walked in the slight drizzle to cast my vote... this time i really had no idea who i wanted as my president... Wish Tommy Koh ran for election instead, he sure has my vote! Mum had to return to punggol to cast her vote so our little family brought the baking things i packed to store at mum's place 1st... and then chill there, i played the piano while the father and daughter danced... then when it was time to lock up the house, our little family head to the playground.

happiest Kid... Nope its KIDS!
almost caught a shot of gx hanging on the bars!

my favourite shot of baby R at the playground

it has been months since we played at this playground and my daring baby R didnt give this rope climbing a miss... she went on several times and insist trying not only the centre but trying to climb to the top by the sides... daddy also insist on letting our gal try out the sides to let her know the difficulty she will face when she gets to the top so she would learn her lesson... She sure did... cos she hung at the top and was unable to pull herself up to the platform that she called her daddy for HELP! then when she tried the ropes again... she was in the middle.

some silly shots of mummy and cheeky baby R

managed to stop her to rest for awhile and she was off again,
up the stairs, down the slide, climbing up and sliding down!

daddy asked baby R to try getting in on her own.... after she tried, she asked nicely,
DADDY HELP PLEASE
somehow she managed to get out on her own and when she return to the dino again,
she managed to get in on her own!

the playground fun didnt end up nicely as always... power struggle with our stubborn gal!
we gave her count downs and we even secretly extended her fun time...
but she simply ignore us and told us
BYE BYE Mimi and BYE BYE Daddy...
gx told me to walk away and hide to watch... which i hate his method... to me is go means go. GX prefers to watch and scare her with our disappearing act... i hated it.. but i try it out with him.... so i was feeding mosqitoes while watching my gal from a distance... i was so heated up when i see my gal unafraid and so daringly running about the whole playground on her own. she wasn't scared at all even when she saw strangers walked by... she simply moved away further and not play near when she see strangers.. i dun know what GX wants to teach her.... i was frustrated... she jus kept playing on... cautious but she went on for 15mins and my patience ran low. i shouted LETS GO! i was so mad by the time we were in the car, baby R had  started crying as we headed from the playground to the car... i was so fed up, told my gal off and i ended in tears... GX said no more playground if she dun listen but thats not gog to work and we will go thru another fun time but in the end we sure wrap up being upset... i am not only handling stubborn baby R and i hated the  walk away and hide thing GX suggest... its not going to work and i feel that if worsens the situation and baby R gets her way still and it doesnt hurt her to do it all over agian if she gets the extra playing time... HELP... i feel so tired with both of them!
