Doctor in the house

28th August11, Sunday. Dropped by sis' to pick mum up to meet the rest of the family for an outing. Cousin K was gog to drop by to help sis check on little nephew L's reflux problem. Jus as we were about to step out Cousin K and wife-to-be came and we were all happy to see them. So we all stayed back awhile to chat and i was glad we did cos i wanted baby R to see how smiley baby L didi was when he was checked by the doctor! Gx and I kept praising Didi L's bravery of not crying and we stressed to her that doctors are there to help mummies solve problems to make children feel better! I am very thankful that our cousin made a trip specially for sis... sis is pretty stressed out by her little son's milk-vomitting problem... hope this sets her mind alittle that time is the factor that will solve reflux problem.

Lost and Found

Many weeks ago, my SI fren Lina, posted a pic of these tidbits... becos mum needed white vinegar for the devils' curry, our little family was suppose to walk all the way to the shop & save store a few streets away but when i saw the mama shop opp bro's block, i went in to see if they have the stuff we needed and glad they had cos that saves us walking to and fro a longer distance. Even better, i saw these childhood tidbits i loved! Twisties and Mamee are still available and easily bought from supermarkets but not these little packets of alitte spicy noodle bits! In the 80s these were 10cents each, i got these buy 3 and get 1 free and each packet cost me 20cents! i ate all 4 packets n my own, sharing little with gx!

colour, snipsnap and yums weekend

head to bro's place and baby R napped from car ride, all tired from the running, climbing and crying... i didnt rest, i started to take out a nice packet of origami paper i found while packing the room to cut the big square down to many smaller squares... for a project i want to work on with baby R... it is linked to a story book i borrowed for her from the library. Ms Helen might be able to guess the character of the book i borrowed! cos the first time i saw this character was from a book you read to the class! while baby R slept, i traced Maisy on 2 white paper so she can do some colouring... she was willing to sit and and tried to colour alittle here and there... she watched me do the rainbow colour on Maisy instead... the pic on the left was done by baby R last week! think she somehow prefer markers than crayons.

Tried my luck with my memory to see if i could still remember how to make a paper ball and i was glad i managed to make a neat ball and baby R was excited to see what happens to the flat paper as she count 123, i blew the ball up! i bought a set of ikea scissors, one flat blade and the other was zigzag... i prefer to give baby R the zigzag for cutting on her own.. she loves to do things on her own and i do let her handle the scissors with rules told to her 1st and i always eye on her. I would tell her no walking about with the scissors and if she wants to walk away, the scissors stays on the table. Sadly, i always kinda waste paper cos i always grab the nice bits and pieces of paper which is meant for my notes and forget to tear some magazines pages to put into our going out bag...

working so hard with the preps for upcoming crafts, i ate my mum's yummy cooking slowly and sat at the dining table for the longest time... devils' curry, fried fish and the kangkong... warms my tummy... best to top of the dinner with dessert and bro bought nice durian cake from Jane's Cake Station from Jalan Kayu! i feel so rewarded with the prep and of cos the durian cake even thou i had to bear with the pain in my back and tight tummy, kicked numerous time by my baby #2... why do i have to do it now? i can't imagine when the 2nd baby arrives, the kind of time i have each day to do anything else... these tidious preparations for crafts takes TIME... i still want to share some good time with baby R and not deprive her ... how well will i handle both babies? i rather prep what i can, have things stand by then not being prepared at all!

voting day playground fun

27th August11, Saturday. Presidential Election Day. Its the 2nd time this year we as citizens of Singapore has to cast our votes to decide who's going to run our little nation... with my big baby belly, i walked in the slight drizzle to cast my vote... this time i really had no idea who i wanted as my president... Wish Tommy Koh ran for election instead, he sure has my vote! Mum had to return to punggol to cast her vote so our little family brought the baking things i packed to store at mum's place 1st... and then chill there, i played the piano while the father and daughter danced... then when it was time to lock up the house, our little family head to the playground.

happiest Kid... Nope its KIDS!
almost caught a shot of gx hanging on the bars!

my favourite shot of baby R at the playground

it has been months since we played at this playground and my daring baby R didnt give this rope climbing a miss... she went on several times and insist trying not only the centre but trying to climb to the top by the sides... daddy also insist on letting our gal try out the sides to let her know the difficulty she will face when she gets to the top so she would learn her lesson... She sure did... cos she hung at the top and was unable to pull herself up to the platform that she called her daddy for HELP! then when she tried the ropes again... she was in the middle.

some silly shots of mummy and cheeky baby R

managed to stop her to rest for awhile and she was off again,
up the stairs, down the slide, climbing up and sliding down!

daddy asked baby R to try getting in on her own.... after she tried, she asked nicely,
DADDY HELP PLEASE
somehow she managed to get out on her own and when she return to the dino again,
she managed to get in on her own!

the playground fun didnt end up nicely as always... power struggle with our stubborn gal!
we gave her count downs and we even secretly extended her fun time...
but she simply ignore us and told us
BYE BYE Mimi and BYE BYE Daddy...
gx told me to walk away and hide to watch... which i hate his method... to me is go means go. GX prefers to watch and scare her with our disappearing act... i hated it.. but i try it out with him.... so i was feeding mosqitoes while watching my gal from a distance... i was so heated up when i see my gal unafraid and so daringly running about the whole playground on her own. she wasn't scared at all even when she saw strangers walked by... she simply moved away further and not play near when she see strangers.. i dun know what GX wants to teach her.... i was frustrated... she jus kept playing on... cautious but she went on for 15mins and my patience ran low. i shouted LETS GO! i was so mad by the time we were in the car, baby R had  started crying as we headed from the playground to the car... i was so fed up, told my gal off and i ended in tears... GX said no more playground if she dun listen but thats not gog to work and we will go thru another fun time but in the end we sure wrap up being upset... i am not only handling stubborn baby R and i hated the  walk away and hide thing GX suggest... its not going to work and i feel that if worsens the situation and baby R gets her way still and it doesnt hurt her to do it all over agian if she gets the extra playing time... HELP... i feel so tired with both of them!

Friday Fun - Dressing Up

26th August11, Friday is always a day i kind of try to do something different with baby R... not always since i got pregnant but somehow we still manage to do different simple activity to start baby R's weekend. This week, she is lucky and so was i... to have fun with dressing up baby R in different hand-down costumes while i was packing up my baking things... after being a korean drama queen, baby R was on the ball being

Cinderella

Snow White

Minnie Mouse

little pumpkin fairy
some costumes were jus right thou they look huge! so it was good for me to know roughly when i should let her dress up in which costume when there is ever a dress up party! We will be using one of the costume for baby R's yiyis' birthday soon and if there is a halloween party we sure have the costume for it!

Gugu NiangNiang

宁宁娘娘

Yesterday while i was packing the storeroom, looking for the breastpumps, rearranging the things and most of all, packing the baking things that i need to box up to put at mum's place first... cos i was running out of space for kids stuff... the storeroom has almost no standing room! took out the "dressing box" asked baby R if she wanted to try the costumes on, she said NO.

When i saw the korean set, i asked her if she wanted to wear like Gugu NiangNiang.... tot she mit say No... and she did.... but baby R walked over to check out what i said to her ... so i asked her again... Want to wear like Gugu Niangniang... and she smiled and nodded her head!

for the last few months, i was religiously chasing my 7pm weekday korean drama Tong Yi. baby R was with me and she knew when the show is on its Mimi's Me Time. Baby R watches with me at times, run about in the house, hugs and plays with her soft toys, picks games and play by herself... for an hour. Her favourite part of the show would be the ending song which she started to hum and then added some korean wordings sounding the same as the song as we reached 80episodes! When the show ended, the following day she asked No Tong Yi? In the show the maids address the ladies in power, NiangNiang... but somehow my gal always imitates the show calling out Gugu Niangniang instead and bowing her head as she says it!

she was happily dressed in the korean costume which is handed down by cousin L and its authentic from Korea... lucky us! so part of my afternoon, i was busy packing and had a little break dressing my gal up and taking shots of her! She was so game that we didnt stop at our 1st costume.... she sure had fun and i enjoyed dressing her up!

Speech...less

After i typed out how funny baby R was yesterday afternoon... i should have kept my toes crossed too! (but that would be painful!) She didnt sleep thru as i wished... but i was kinda prepared to make her milk and spend some good amount of time to make her close her eyes again... what i wasnt prepared for was what she was going to say!

after she had her milk, she toss and turned, came up to our bed and off back to her cosy corner and she did this several times and her daddy jus kept his eyes shut tight... then came a moment baby R stood up and was heading to towards the door in the dark, i shook GX to get up to get hold of her before she runs out of the room... thank goodness GX got her in time...

I asked her what she wanted...

Mimi, you stay on bed, (pulling daddy's hand) daddy get up, go with me i need to find my bottle... i need water! daddy lets go find water... (Sounding serious and urgent yet in a calm voice telling us how important her mission was and has to take immediate action!)
We were caught speechless cos our gal actually had plans how to get herself out of the room... knowing she needed a good reason but it didnt work with GX... he knew she wanted to go out to check whats happening, prob grab some toys and start playing and she would then be too awake to go back to sleep!

We knew baby R wot give up unless she gets her bottle, so i coax her with massaging her fingers and palm while daddy zoom back with the water she wanted... i had to continue to massage my dear gal to make sure she gave up the idea of getting out of the room and it took another 60ml of milk to knock her out ...

When GX came back after sending pils home, we talked about what baby R did earlier on ...jus as baby R woke up i went to lie down in bed , my back was strained so badly, i was making so much noise as i tried to turn to my sides (this week, the back suffers terribly) and i tot my dear sweet gal can ask me to stay in the room while she go find her bottle... GX tot its more likely she knew i would stop her so she chose daddy to bring her out to get the bottle! The person who stopped baby R in the end was GX! i am jus amazed with what goes on in baby R's brains and the way she told us how she wanted to ge the bottle, her expression, the words clearly made us have a good "quiet" laugh before daddy and mummy turned in!
